With over 25 years of experience between us, we create hand forged metalwork that is both decorative as well as functional. Together we started as apprentices at our local Historical Society's blacksmith shop, we came to know our future would be surrounded by red hot shards of imagination and a desire to create in metal. Working there gave us a basic understanding of a craft we both seemed destined to embark on. However, growing up on Long Island made it difficult to find people with blacksmithing knowledge. Together and separately we traveled the country and were taught by well known craftspeople. Our love of metalwork left us eager to experiment with many different techniques of forming metal. From working with no power and coal as fuel, and pumping six foot leather bellows, to creating x-ray quality welds for the aerospace industry, we have settled into a happy medium taking the best from tradition and technology. As artist blacksmiths we apply our individual aesthetics to all of our work. Our wide array of products and art, that you see in this catalog are as diverse as we are. Custom furniture, home accessories, gates, railings, and architectural metalwork all made in our studio and are products of our creative drives. Spirit Ironworks has been a working forge since 1999. With the utmost quality and increasing diversity in work, Spirit Ironworks is always striving for more and welcomes whatever the future holds.
